Planks and Gluten Free Pizza Crust

plankkneepink

One of my favorite exercises ever is any form of a plank. Planks work the entire body when done correctly. This exercise is plank diagonal knee which engages the core, strengthens the arms and shoulders, and keeps the heart rate up. I start in high plank position and then bring one knee toward the opposite arm and then alternate. I focus on a steady pace, good control and alignment. I usually do 2-3 sets of 20 within my workouts.

It was just one of those nights when I wanted pizza. I worked so hard on my planks this week, so I thought I would splurge.  I came so close to ordering Mellow Mushroom but I decided to create my own. Earlier in the week I bought the gluten-free crusts. I have never tried it with pizza so this was a first. I found turkey pepperoni, sweet baby bell peppers, onion, mozzarella and fresh basil for the toppings. This was so easy to put together, I just sliced and diced it all and baked for about 15-20 minutes. I enjoyed the crust. It was thin and crispy just like I love.

Lean Muscle, Fat Burning 21 Day Challenge Starts Today

securedownload-6I am so excited about this new training program I have started today. It is a 21 day challenge I found at http://www.bodybuilding.com by Ashley Conrad, a fitness expert and celebrity trainer. Her program is called The Clutch Cut 21 Day Challenge. She promotes cutting the crap and cutting the fat. 🙂 I like her already. This is just what I need to motivate myself, build lean muscle and burn fat. Her program is awesome because you train at a high intensity for 5 days with rest days as well. I like it because the lifting days are full body workouts which I know my body responds well to. I never have had good success with split training. She also includes HIIT cardio training which will work well with my 1/2 marathon training since my goal is to get faster. I started today with the cardio and core. I did a warm up of light running, stretching, then 10 circuits of interval training (scale 1-10 using treadmill, bike, elliptical or outside run) which included an easy run for 60 seconds (level 5) a faster run for 30 seconds (level 7) and a sprint for 60 seconds (level 10). I finished with a steady run for another mile then cooled down. It felt great. I cannot wait to do the lifting circuit tomorrow. I will give a quick update when done.

She also gives complete nutrition information which is very similar to the way I eat. I am also going to follow her nutrition plan as I train. Who wants to join the challenge with me? Let’s keep each other motivated for the next 21 days. I love it when a good plan comes together.

Abs Are Made In The Kitchen

Well we have all heard the saying “abs are made in the kitchen”.  I would say I am in pretty good shape. I eat healthy, train hard and overall, take good care of myself. I started doing The Cellulite Project again just to stay on track with healthy eating and eliminating processed food completely from my diet so I will feel energetic and strong. I know I do not need to lose weight and that is not my goal if that is what you are thinking. However, I am not going to lie. Even though I am a thin person, I would like to see some cuts and definition in my abs and arms. I believe “abs are made in the kitchen” . I have a very strong core, but my hard work in the gym is hidden by some junky food effects from earlier this summer. I will put this theory to the test 🙂 I will continue my daily workouts along with following The Cellulite Project over the next 22 days and then I will snap another photo to show my progress. This is a photo of me and my abs taken yesterday.

Help! I Need Views For The Under Armour Spine Venom Challenge

uashoebackboneHello! I have been MIA for a while but this is what I have been doing. I am competing in the Under Armour What’s Beautiful Contest. Each day we are given a SweatADay challenge to complete. During that time Under Armour contacted me and 499 other people. They gave us their new UA Spine Venom sneaker to test, make a video of the extraordinary things that we do in our Spines. The challenge ends May 3. They judge on creativity and video views. The winner will receive 5 years of Under Armour sneakers (4 pair a year for 5 years). I want it bad.

Please Please Please click on the link below and watch my video. It is only 90 seconds. I am stronger than I look. I push trucks, beat tires, etc.  Also, the supermodel Piper makes a special guest appearance doing her favorite yoga move! Please feel free to share this with your friends. It might give you and them a giggle. It is not everyday you see a girl pushing a truck and a dog doing yoga.

Thank you 🙂

Schmidt’s take on teaching a Spinning class … priceless. Sadly, as an instructor … I kinda agree with some of the weird things he says …

Homemade Salsa

OMG! This salsa recipe looks mouth watering! This blogger is awesome. Check it out. I am going to try this salsa for SEC tailgating. WDE!

thefauxmartha

For my entire married life—4 years and counting—we’ve been eating Jack’s Garden Fresh Salsa. Purchased from Costco. It’s one of the main reasons this two person household has a membership. That and rolled oats. And then we moved to Connecticut. No Jack here.

We’ve been mourning the loss and trying other salsas ever since. Nothing comes close to that fresh flavor. So fresh it goes bad, which I alway appreciated oddly enough. After ounces of unpalatable salsa, I set out to make my own. I’ve been known for making a thing or two from scratch.

Although I’ve had a long standing fling with Jack, I think we’re officially over. I’m in love with homemade salsa. Head over heals. It’s a little late in the season for this obsession to begin, but fingers crossed, I have a couple weeks left. Did I mention—it’s ready in one minute flat. That’s about…
